Legal Work - an expert view about gynaecology matters and procedures

After 25 years as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Plymouth NHS Hospitals’ Trust, where I was appointed in 1991, I currently hold an Honorary Consultant's post having retired from full-time practice in 2016.
Whilst always maintaining a broad practice across the whole speciality I developed a national and international reputation in the field of endoscopic “keyhole” surgery, serving as President of the British Society for Gynaecological Surgery from 2010 until 2012.
I can accept instructions to produce reports addressing Breach of Duty and Causation for all gynaecological and obstetric cases, with the exception of neo-natal brain injury.
I am happy to provide redacted exemplar reports for both Claimant and Defendant on request.
On receipt of instructions I can usually provide a fully compliant CPR report within one month.

I have maintained a busy medico-legal practice for over 20 years.  I attend update courses about the current trends and changes in the law and give invited lectures on medico-legal aspects of gynaecology and obstetrics
·        On average I prepare five reports per month for both Claimant and Defendant.
·        I am regularly instructed by the NHS Litigation Authorities of England, Scotland and Wales ,the MDU and MPS.
·        I have given evidence in the Civil and Criminal Courts and in Fitness to Practice hearings at the GMC.
·        I have conducted External Reviews of Gynaecological Surgery for a number of NHS Trusts, most recently in 2018.
